Corporate Social Responsibility: key initiatives and results

How does TIP Group ensure a safe, inclusive working environment for our employees and support our communities? In this article, we outline our comprehensive strategies focused on health and safety, the development of our employees, and other key initiatives. Our aim is not just to conduct business, but to positively impact the broader society.

Focus on health & safety: TIP Ambition Zer0

TIP Group prioritizes environmental health and safety (EHS) above all. In our commitment to this, we have launched initiatives aimed at elevating EHS standards and achieving our target of zero accidents. Our approach, Ambition Zer0, proactively addresses the root causes of incidents through comprehensive and accessible training, regular monthly inspections, detailed accident investigations, and enhanced use of information technology.

Zero accidents, especially in our more hazardous workshop environment, is an ambitious goal, however we see no alternative to this target. Every accident carries the risk of severe injuries to our colleagues and our people are just too important than to take any chances on health and safety.

TIP Mechanic Academy

Our industry is currently grappling with a significant shortage of qualified mechanics. To address this, TIP Group has launched an initiative not only to secure a skilled workforce for the future but also to support the rapid transition to electric vehicles (EVs).

In September 2023, we introduced the TIP Group Mechanic Academy across multiple locations including Denmark, France, the Netherlands, the UK, and Germany in 2024. The academy offers a nine-month comprehensive training program that combines instructor-led sessions, online courses, and hands-on practical experience. This training fast-tracks participants into full-time roles as TIP ‘Level 3’ trailer mechanics, certified by an independent and qualified organisation, bypassing the traditional four-year education path.

Participants in the program earn a salary during their training and upon graduation, receive a wage comparable to that of a fully qualified mechanic. The success of our initial programs is evident as our first group of trainees has already graduated and begun their careers. TIP Group is now gearing up to welcome the next cohort of trainees.

Other key initiatives

Other Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives are:

  • Road safety for children

Over 400 children in the Netherlands and Germany have completed our blind spot training course. This initiative educates young pedestrians and cyclists on the dangers of blind spots around large vehicles, significantly enhancing their safety on the roads.

  • Secure Truck Parkings

Finding a safe and comfortable place to park, and where the cargo is protected, can be difficult for truck drivers. Therefore, TIP has opened its first secure parkings in France. These hubs provide a safe, secure environment for drivers to rest, reducing the risk of theft and accidents. Our Secure Truck Parking, Delta Park in Dourges in the North of France, is the first secure parking facility in the world that is certified with the highest level of security, with both the TAPA PSR1 and the EU parking gold certifications.

  • Great Place to Work-Certified™ company

TIP has been certified as Great Place to Work in all countries where we participated in the survey: Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom! This prestigious certification reflects our dedication to fostering a positive, inclusive work culture while continuously enhancing our workplace and maintaining high employee satisfaction.

  • Closing the gender pay gap

By dedicated action we are aiming to close the gender pay gap in our organisation. We are diligently working on aligning remuneration on a job role level. In 2024 the gender pay gap is 4,29%, something that will keep receiving continued attention. Our commitment to gender equality is reflected in our proactive measures to ensure fair pay and equal opportunity across all levels of our organization.

  • Stronger together programme

We believe we have a responsibility towards our local communities and have not only donated €92,531 to charities and other good causes but encourage employee volunteering as well (e.g., charity rides, Octobre Rose, etc). Next to this, we continuously implement learning programs and trainings for our employees, investing in their development. The Stronger Together program strengthens community ties and fosters a spirit of cooperation and charity throughout our workforce, reflecting our core values and commitment to social responsibility.
