First 10 TIP Mechanic Academy Students Graduate
We are delighted to announce that the inaugural TIP Mechanic Academy (TMA) has now concluded, with ten students successfully graduating to become professional trailer mechanics after just 9 months of training.
The unique mechanic training programme was launched in the autumn of last year to provide students with trailer-dedicated mechanic training and the opportunity to qualify as a TIP trailer mechanic. At the same time, the first-of-a-kind programme would enable the students to achieve independent, professional certification in a much shorter period than is the industry norm for HGV certification, which is typically 3 to 4 years.
The students enrolled to the programme came from across the UK to receive in-depth training on all aspects of trailer maintenance at TIP’s purpose-built training facility in Nuneaton and were taught in a real workshop environment, a classroom and via online course material. Following completion of the training, students were independently assessed via written examinations and practical-based tasks.
After a couple of weeks of much-earned recovery time, the students gathered once again at TIP Nuneaton from their local TIP branch to celebrate their graduation, university-style. The graduates received their certificates and recalled their experiences during the last 9 months over a spot of lunch. A few short presentations from TIP management and course providers offered both thanks to all those involved in making the first TMA a success and words of encouragement for the newly qualified mechanics.
The ‘TMA 10’ will now support the maintenance and repair services that TIP provides its customers from its UK network of workshops.
Congratulations Emma, Ciaran, Daniel, Matthew, Scott, Edward, Spencer, Richard and Steven (x2)!
Work now begins on the recruitment drive for the next intake of students later this year.
